Theme: Planting the seeds of change

MECHANICS:

  1. All interested amateur and professional Filipino songwriters may join. For collaborative entries, a maximum of three co-writers will be allowed and one shall be designated as principal. For minors (less than 18 years old), consent is required from a parent or legal guardian.

  2. Members of the 1st TOFARM Songwriting Competition Working Committee and Judges and their relatives up to the second degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from joining the Competition.

  3. The following requirements must be submitted on or before NOVEMBER 18, 2016:

  4. Duly accomplished and signed Application Form which may be downloaded from www.tofarm.org

  5. Copy of a valid ID with specimen signature of the applicant (include co-applicants, if collaboration)

  6. Song Entry in mp3 format

  7. Lyric sheet (English/Pilipino line-by-line translation, if applicable)

  8. Entries may be sent to any of the following:

  9. Nine (9) Finalists will be chosen by the 1st TOFARM Songwriting Competition Preliminary Committee.

  10. Finalists will be notified before DECEMBER 5, 2016, the date when results shall be officially announced.

  11. Winning song entries shall be assigned to an arranger and performing artist for live performance onstage at the Finals Night on FEBRUARY 6, 2017.

  12. Prizes shall be awarded as follows:

  • Finalist: Php 40,000; plaque

  • People’s Choice: Php 75,000; plaque

  • 2nd Runner-up: Php 100,000; trophy; plaque

  • 1st Runner-up: Php 200,000; trophy, plaque

  • Grand Prize Winner: Php 300,000, trophy, plaque

MUSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Genre. Different song genres are encouraged, i.e. Folk/Acoustic, Rock, Jazz, R&B, Country, Pop, Inspirational, Fusion.

  2. Duration. From the start of the song, minimum of 3 minutes 30 seconds to maximum 6’.

  3. Lyrics. English or any of the Philippine languages.

  4. Criteria. Quality of composition, lyrics, originality and fidelity to the theme.

  5. Accompaniment. Minimum of 1 to maximum of 4 instruments are allowed, either acoustic or midi realization. Use of indigenous instruments is encouraged.

  6. Submitted songs and lyrics must be written particularly for the 1st TOFARM Songwriting Competition.

  7. Ownership rights to the submitted songs shall be retained by the contestant unless and until he/she is declared Finalist.
