About Tofarm

The Search and Award for “The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines” is a program of the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCIP) and the Universal Harvester, Incorporated. JCI Philippines is the same highly respected organization that brought “The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM)” and “The Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL).”

The search and award for farmers is an initiative since the early 70’s by the Philippine Jaycees (now Junior Chamber International Philippines). An award program in recognition of the resiliency, ingenuity, and the strength of our hard working Filipino farmers. The program is anchored in promoting farming in the youth sector in all regions. The search will be inclusive and participative, expanding from public to private sector stakeholders in agriculture, fisheries and livestocks. This project is open to all Filipino farmers, fisherfolk, animal raisers, cooperatives, farm communities, organizations, education/academe, agriculture scientist, LGUs and public employees, and business entities in both rural and urban areas/centers.

The Outstanding Farmer of the Philippines' distinctive "plate" award represents various stakeholders from the agriculture, fisheries, and livestock industries. It also signifies food on the table from each Filipino's home from different walks of life. It serves as a befitting tribute to the unsung heroes that exemplify resiliency, ingenuity, and strength of the Filipino farmers.

Project Objectives:

  • (i) food supply conservation,
  • (ii) patronage in Filipino produce;
  • Institutionalize the initiative for the search and award;
  • Achieve private and public sector participation in the annual search and award, and establish a much wider scope and reach;
  • Safeguard the interest and welfare of the agriculture sector;
  • Promote farming as a noble and profitable endeavor;
  • Promote the agriculture sector best practices, techniques and technology;
  • Raise funds to support capacity building and laboratory facility for the farmers;
  • Establish relevant impact of the project through advocacy and support to:
  • Recognize the outstanding individuals and groups in the field of agriculture from the various sectors in the country.

TOFARM Chief Advocate

Our farmers have always been our source of sustenance since time immemorial. They till the land and work the fields, harvest the farmlands and the seas, provide us with crops, produce, meat, milk and everything else we need to experience a bountiful existence. More than anything, they deserve to be thanked and acknowledged. Through TOFARM we wish to recognize our farmers for their gifts and contributions to our country and to us, individually.

This Search and Awards for The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines is one small way by which we can let our farmers know that we appreciate what they do. We hope that through TOFARM we can inspire more farmers to be proud of their accomplishments so that more will strive even harder to be better than they already are.

Congratulations to all the winners. Mabuhay ang magsasakang Pilipino!"

TOFARM Program Director
