GUIDELINES:

    • Indicate if amateur or professional videographer
  • The participant must choose a topic and submit a one to three (1-3) minute screenplay following this year’s theme: “TOFARM: Farmers at Work.”
  • Below are suggested infomercial features in connection with the theme:
    • Using fertilizer products of UHI
    • Farming, fishery and/or livestock best practices
    • Inorganic and organic applications
    • Curing a specific disease or infestation
    • How to improve farmer financial capability
    • Other topics are subject to the organizer’s approval
  • All interested videographers are requested to bring the following requirements to the TOFARM Secretariat Office, 10th floor, Harvester Corporate Center, 158 P. Tuazon, cor. 7th & 8th Ave, Cubao, Quezon City:
    • Duly accomplished TOFARM entry form
    • Synopsis in Filipino or English (1 page, 12 pts font size, Arial, Double Space)
    • Resume of the proponent
  • Upon the organizing committee’s topic and screenplay approval, the committee will signal the proponent to proceed with the development of the video. Please expect the approval on _________.

GUIDELINES

  1. There will be two (2) categories for the photo contest; DSLR and NON-DSLR.
    DSLR category where only DSLR shot photos are accepted and a specific brand sponsor may award their own best photo; non-DSLR category where photos taken using point-and-shoot cameras, mobile phones, tablet, etc., are accepted and a specific brand sponsor may award their own best photo.

  3. Remember to include the following:
    • Brand and model of camera, phone or tablet used
    • Location where the photo was take.
    • Title of the photo
    • Name and address of the subject farmer, fisher folk, livestock raiser or other related individuals
    • Indicate if amateur or professional videographer
  4. The proponent must submit three (3) photos preferably one (1) serious photo, one (1) funny photo and one (1) selfie as a proof that the proponent took the photos.
  5. The proponent must follow this year’s theme: “TOFARM: Farmers at Work.”
  6. The proponent is requested to give a high resolution in jpeg (300dpi) together with its corresponding RAW file.
  7.  Only minimal editing and modifications such as cropping, brightness and contrast adjustments are allowed.
  8. All interested photographers are requested to pass the following to tofarm.farmeratwork@gmail.com on or before October 16, 2016:
    • Duly accomplished 2016 entry form
    • Resume of the proponent

 

The woman represents Philippine agriculture. She is responsible for the whole nation’s nourishment. She cultivates the land, takes care and harvests the crops and delivers produce to feed Filipino families.

She raises the TOFARM plate to acknowledge and give recognition to the noble champions of agriculture – our farmers.

 

She also leans forward to encourage advancement in agriculture. She uses the film strip as an “alampay.” The beauty and power of cinema is a tool to put a spotlight onto the farmers’ lives – their triumph and tribulations, challenges and success.

 

 
TOFARM FILM FESTIVAL 2018 
Full Length Film
 
TOFARM will be holding its third “TOFARM Film Festival” with the theme “A Tribute to Life: Parating Na” to highlight the aspirations of the Filipino farmers and their journey to success. A total of seven (7) films will be selected by the TOFARM Film Festival Committee and will be given grants for the production.

MECHANICS
1. All who are interested are to submit four copies of the following requirements on or before April 20, 2018, Friday, to the TOFARM Secretariat Office, 10th floor, Harvester Corporate Center, 158 P. Tuazon, corner 7th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City: 
          - Duly-accomplished 2018 TOFARM Film Festival form available at www.TOFARM.org (DOWNLOAD FORM)
          - Synopsis written in Filipino or English (1 page, 12pts font size, Arial, double-spaced) on letter-sized bond paper. The synopsis and screenplay must not contain the name of the writer, which               is to be separately submitted in a sealed envelope, bearing only the marking “Writer of (title of screenplay).” The document carrying the writer’s name must also already include his/her
             resume, and contact details.
          - Full-length screenplay in Filipino (in 12 pts font size, Arial, double-spaced, on letter-sized bond paper), in an envelope, properly labeled with the title of the film entry. 
 
2. Twelve (12) screenplays are to be short-listed from the entire lot of entries, by the Selection Committee. The shortlisted writers/directors/producers will be invited to pitch their entries before the Selection Committee, TOFARM Festival Director, TOFARM Managing Director, and Dr. Milagros How. TOFARM reserves the right to suggest directors for certain scripts.
 
3. The seven (7) Finalists are to be announced in a Press Conference, on May 23, 2018.
 
4. Each of the seven (7) finalists will receive a seed production grant in the amount of PhP 1,500,000.00 to be released in three (3) tranches at PhP 500,000 each. 
 
5. The Director/Producer may solicit additional funds to augment production costs, but TOFARM shall not be liable for reimbursement.
 
6. The Director/Producer of the films must submit the following materials to the Festival committee for promotional and exhibition purposes: 
          - Behind the scenes (BTS) materials;
          - Teaser and trailer of the film, in HD format; 
          - Major credit titles (soft and hard copies) of the film; and 
          - Vertical posters in CD jpeg format.
 
7. The deadline for submission of the completed full-length film, with English subtitles, is on August 17, 2018. Said completed full-length film must be DCP-ready. From submission, it will be transferred to DCP, a process that ideally takes at least a week, care of TOFARM. The KDMs are to be derived from the DCP file. 
 
8. The films and posters will be submitted to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board within the week of September 3-6, 2018. Applications for review of said films and posters need to be made with the MTRCB the week before the review.
 
9. Meanwhile, the Director/Producer of the film
must submit, within reasonable time: 
          - An mp4.H264 version of the completed film, with subtitles, not lower than 6GB;
          - An mp4.H264 version of the completed film not exceeding 4GB, with the watermark violator “For screening purposes only, TOFARM Film Festival”
          - Because the above two versions are what is submitted to international film festivals, failure to submit these requirements may push TOFARM to disinclude submission of the film to said international film festivals.
 
10.   The Film Festival Awarding ceremony will be announced. The following prizes  will be awarded:

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The film shall not be less than 75 minutes. This year’s theme is: “A Tribute to Life: Parating Na”. Story can be original or fiction but must be inspired by true accounts of a farmer, livestock raiser, fisher-folk or other individuals related to agriculture
 
2. The members of the organizing committee and their immediate kin are disqualified from joining the competition. 
 
3. Interested participants may submit a maximum of two (2) entries. However, only one entry per proponent shall be considered as a finalist. 
 
4. All finalists must have their premiere screening during the TOFARM Film Festival. 
 
5. All works must be strictly independent films and not produced by commercial and mainstream producers. 
 
6. Encouraged are different genres: comedy, drama, romance, action, suspense, horror and fantasy or combinations. 
 
7. All entries must be submitted in a data file HD format. 
 
8. TOFARM will shoulder PhP 1,500,000.00 of total production costs for each film. The proponent shall submit duly signed three copies of detailed financial statement/expenses of the grant. Proponents are allowed to solicit from sponsors and donors to augment production budget, provided that said solicitation is plowed back into production costs; provided, further, that said sponsors and donors are not direct competitors of Universal Harvester and/or any of its subsidiaries. 
The solicitation, however, shall be the sole responsibility of the director/producer; TOFARM will not be responsible for any reimbursement.
 
9. Due to copyright laws, the music used in any entry must be original, licensed or public domain. 
 
10. Dialogue should be in Filipino or any Philippine dialect as deemed appropriate. All entries must be subtitled in English upon submission. 
 
11. Ownership of the film rights shall be on a 50% - 50% basis between TOFARM and the director/producer. The same system of sharing will be applied in all ancillary rights and pertinent negotiations, whether the film is sold, rented or leased in the Philippines or abroad. 
 
12. Proponents should assign a single representative to act on behalf of his team. All official communications shall be addressed to the said representative. The TOFARM Festival committee shall not be liable for any controversy regarding the sharing of awards among the members of the team. 
 
13. TOFARM shall ensure the safety of the films throughout the period in which the materials are in its custody. 
 
14. The organizer and its agencies reserve the right to use the entry’s name and/or materials for the purpose of publicity, advertising, and/or promotion without prior compensation or notice. 
 
15. The organizer reserves the right to cancel, change or amend this contest and its Rules and Regulations.
 
16. The decision of the Board of Judges is final. 
 
 
 

 

 

TOFARM FILM FESTIVAL 2018 
Short Film
 

For the third TOFARM Film Festival, Dr. Milagros O. How announces the inclusion of the TOFARM Short Film Competition as part of the continuing effort to highlight the aspirations of Filipino farmers and their journey to success. 

A total of seven (7) short films shot entirely on a cellphone, no less than one minute and no more than 10 minutes each, will be chosen by a selection committee separate and totally independent from the TOFARM Film Festival Selection Committee, to screen along with the seven (7) feature films to be exhibited in the TOFARM Film Festival from Sept. 12-18, 2018

MECHANICS
 

1. All interested amateur filmmakers are to e-mail their short films, shot on a cellphone, no less than one (1) minute and no more than ten (10) minutes, along with : 

                -  Duly-accomplished 2018 TOFARM Short Film Competition form available at www.TOFARM.org (DOWNLOAD FORM)

                -  Duly-accomplished form includes signing form attesting to the fact they actually shot using a mobile phone camera.

                -  Synopsis written in Filipino or English (1 page, 12 pts font size, Arial, double-spaced) on letter-sized bond paper.

 
2. Entrant must not have directed a full length feature yet.
 
3. TOFARM will accept entries from July 15 to August 15, 2018, to be submitted as Quicktime h. 264, mpeg4, on either a data disk, flashdisk, to the TOFARM Secretariat Office, 10th floor, Harvester Corporate Center, 158 P. Tuazon, corner 7th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City. Entrants may also submit online, with an online link for download, e-mailed to: tofarmphils@gmail.com 
 
4. Seven (7) Short Films are to be short-listed from the entire lot of entries, by a Selection Committee separate and totally independent from the TOFARM Film Festival Selection Committee.   
 
5. The chosen seven (7) Short Film Finalists are to be exhibited in the TOFARM Film Festival from September 12-18, 2018, along with the seven (7) feature films of the TOFARM Film Festival. 
 
6. TOFARM will take care of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board review through collaboration with the Film Development Center of the Philippines. 
 
7. The Short Filmmakers and TOFARM may enter the work in various international short film festivals.
 

8. The TOFARM Film Festival Awarding ceremony will include the announcement of the three (3) winners of the TOFARM Short Film  Festival Competition. 

     The following prizes will be awarded: 

Best TOFARM Short Film 2018           =     PhP 50,000.00+plaque+phone+gimbal

2nd Best TOFARM Short Film 2018   =     PhP 40,000.00+plaque+phone+gimbal

3rd  Best TOFARM Short Film 2018   =     PhP 30,000.00+plaque+phone+gimbal

 
RULES AND REGULATIONS
 
1. All entries must be no less than one (1) minute and no more than ten (10) minutes, at an average of 80mb/minute, for 10 minutes an average of 800mb, maximum of one gigabyte.

2. The theme of the first TOFARM Short Film Competition is “A Slice of Life: Eto Na!” featuring vignettes in the daily lives of a farmer, livestock raiser, fisher-folk or other individuals related to agriculture. 

3. The members of the organizing committee and their immediate kin are disqualified from joining the competition. 

4. Interested participants may submit a maximum of two (2) entries. However, only one entry per proponent shall be considered as a finalist. 

5. All finalists must have their premiere screening during the TOFARM Film Festival. 

6. Works found to be created by professionals but submitted under the names of amateurs bars said professionals and amateurs from future participation and inclusion in TOFARM projects and activities.

7. Different narrative genres shall be encouraged. The challenge will be to present a slice of life, along the lines of comedy, drama, romance, action, suspense, horror and fantasy within the short time allowed.

8. Due to copyright laws, the music used in any entry must be original, licensed or public domain. 

9. Dialogue should be in Filipino or any Philippine dialect as deemed appropriate. All entries must be subtitled in English upon submission. 

10. Finalists will retain ownership of their short films. Winning entries and the Executive Producer of the TOFARM Film Festival may enter into an amicable deal agreed upon by both parties, regarding ownership. The Best Director Award in any other foreign or local short film festival goes solely to the Filmmaker, but a Best Film Award in any such foreign or local short film festival can be shared between Filmmaker and TOFARM.

11. The organizer and its agencies reserve the right to use the entry’s name and/or materials for the purpose of publicity, advertising, and/or promotion without prior compensation or notice. 

12. The organizer reserves the right to cancel, change or amend this contest and its Rules and Regulations. 

13. The decision of the Board of Judges is final.
