MANILA, Philippines - It was July 2015 when the search for outstanding screenplay entries was launched in the first-ever ToFarm Film Festival, which is spearheaded by United Harvesters, Inc. Calls for entries were addressed to all aspiring filmmakers.
ToFarm Film Festival received more than the expected number of entries. With the help of the three esteemed directors and writers in the selection of winners, namely director Erik Matti, director Roy Iglesias and Jake Tordesillas, the fest revealed its Top 6 screenplays (to be given the chance to start their production) at the Batanes Room of EDSA Shangri-La Hotel last Feb. 6.
They are Pilapil, an action-drama story by Jose Johnny Rodelo; Kakampi, a mystery by Victor Acedillo Jr.; Free Range by Dennis Marasigan; Pitong Kabang Palay by Maricel Cariaga; Pana-Panahon, a love triangle story by Zig Dulay; and Pauwi Na, a road-comic story by Paulo Villaluna.
ToFarm Film Festival committee members are Dr. Milagros Ong-how (ToFarm founder/EVP of Universal Harvester, Inc.); Rommel Cunanan (ToFarm project director); Ruby Pascual (ToFarm program development officer); Ianne Oandasan (ToFarm supervising producer/film producer); and Maryo J. delos Reyes (ToFarm festival director/TV and film director).
